PC Musthafa, the CEO and co-founder of iD Fresh Food, is a true symbol of resilience, innovation, and humble beginnings. Born in a small village in Kerala, Musthafa’s journey from helping his father on a ginger farm to founding one of India’s most loved ready-to-cook food brands is nothing short of inspirational.

Humble Beginnings
Musthafa grew up in poverty, where even three meals a day were a luxury. His father toiled 14 hours daily in the fields earning just ₹25 a day. At just 10 years old, Musthafa joined him, earning ₹10 to support his family.
But his entrepreneurial spirit kicked in early. During school holidays, he used a bench and his mother’s saree to set up a mini shop. With a small investment from his uncle, he walked 14 km to town to buy chocolates and sell them in his village. He used his profits to buy goats, then a cow which created a steady income for his family.
Education Wasn’t Easy
Musthafa dropped out in 6th grade. But with encouragement from his teachers, he returned, topped his class in math, and eventually topped school in all subjects, later completed engineering. After landing a job through campus placement for ₹14,000/month, his income gradually increased to ₹2 lakh/month. He cleared his father’s debt and built their first proper house.
Birth of iD Fresh Food
In 2005-06, Musthafa and his cousins started iD Fresh Food with ₹50,000. They bought a grinder, mixer, weighing machine, sealing machine, and a second-hand scooter. They made and delivered idli-dosa batter but initially, 90 out of 100 packs came back unsold.
Still, they didn’t give up. Slowly, word spread. Within 3 years, returns dropped significantly. Today, more than 95% of their batter is sold, and the brand has become a household name in urban India.
